The Rickshawpuller & An IITian

Hemant had just returned from his college in the vacations. He and his friends planned for a visit to hastinapur. It was a hot Sunday afternoon. The whole group drove off on their bikes for the trip. Guzzling and roaring on high speeds, talking, laughing, screaming they all reached the destination in not much time. In the town near the historical places, motor vehicles were strictly prohibited, so they parked their bikes and took a walk. As they were walking, hemant was feeling uneasy. After 10 minutes, hemant exhausted completely. He saw there a rickshawpuller, about 20 years of age and decided to cover the rest distance by that 3 wheel cyclerickshaw. So the group agreed and decided that they will continue walking and hemant and mohit opted for a rickshaw ride. The Rickshaw puller seemed like a regular young rickshawvala. Now it was bargaining time. Rickshawvala wanted Rs 50, Mohit said Rs 30, and they settled for Rs 40. Now the Adventurous rickshaw ride starts.... Rickshawvala asked "Aap kahan se aaye hain?" Hemant said "Delhi." Rickshawvala again asked "Bijness, ya koi kaam karte hain?" Hemant said "Naukri karte hain." Rickshawvala asked again "Kismein?" Now Hemant thought to have some fun. He said "Internet mein." As he expected The Rickshaw puller said "Humara bhi kuch vahin kaam lagva dijiye." They both bursted into laughter. Rickshawvala said "Ap has kyu rahe ho main try kar raha hoon engineering kee. Achchi naukri lag jaayegi tab. Sab yehi khte hain.." "Achcha?" Hemant said, he was a little interested. "Haan, pichle hafte maine GATE bhi diya." "GATE matlab, IIT vala?" Mohit asked. "Haan, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering" he pronounced it perfectly. Just to make it clear to them what GATE stood for. Rickshawvala further added "Mushkil hota hai exam." They both again chuckled. "Haan, 2 saal toh log padhte hee hain uske liye, asaan nahin hai." Hemant said. Rickshawvala again asked curiously "Aapne kya padhai kee hai?" "Main engineer hoon, aur phir MBA bhi kiya." Hemant said. "Kahan se engineer?" "IIT Delhi se." Rickshawvala swung back, surprised, a little delighted, and smiled. "Ok, aapke liye Rs 30." Now Mohit laughed loudly. He asked "Padhai kab karte they IIT ke liye?" "Bas, rickshaw chalaane ke baad raat mein". Hemant asked "Tumne kya kiya hai?" Rickshawvala said "M.Sc." They both were shocked. Before they could react he added "Chaukiye mat bhaya, C.C.S.U. se ki hai" They have got their answer. "Kismein engineering kee aapne?" "Chemical." Hemant replied. Richshaw puller asked "Toh aapki Chemistry toh badi strong hogi." "Nahin, aisa nahin hai." Rickshawvala interrupt him "Yeh bataiye....jab Mendeleev ne Periodic Table banaya tha tab kitne elements they usmein?" Now it was their turn to get surprised. He was quizzing them. Hemant said "Shayad 70-80." "No, 63" he said sharply."Kaunse element kee electronegativity highest hai?" Mohit was laughing. Hemant didnt try too hard and said "Pata nahin." "Flourine", he said confidently. Without a break he asked, "Kaunse element kee electron affinity highest hoti hai?" Now Hemant was laughing too and said "Nahin pata" "Chlorine. Toh aapka kaunsa subject strong tha?" clearly having proven that his chemistry wasn't a strong point. "Physics" Hemant said. "Achha, Newton's second law of motion kya hai?" Hemant thought that he knew this one."F=ma", he said. "Physics is not about formula, it is understanding concept!", he reprimanded hemant in near perfect English. "Tell me in statement" Hemant was completely shocked. Mohit continued to laugh. Hemant said "Okay, Newtons second law....was....ummmmmmmm" " 'Was' nahin, 'is'! Second law abhi bhi hai!" he snapped at his use of 'was'. Surely, hemant's physics wasn't impressing him either. "Yaad nahin", he said. "Force on an object is directly proportional to the mass of the object and the acceleration of the object", Rickshawvala said it in near perfect English. "Aapne M.Tech nahin kiya?" "Nahin, B.Tech k bad bas MBA kiya" "MBA vaale toh sirf paisa kamana chahte hain, kaam nahin karte." "Nahin, aisa nahin hai, paisa kamaane ke liye kaam karna padta hai." Hemant said. Rickshaw puller didn't think too highly of them literally anymore. In a minute they reached their destination. They got off and Mohit told him that he must and should definitely study more. No dubt he was sharp as hell. He took only Rs 30, smiled and began to leave. Mohit got his camera out and said "yar ek photo leta hoon tumhari". He waved them off, dismissed the idea and rode off before they could say anything more.... -based on a real story edited by Arpit Goel. Click on the widgets below to share this with your friends...
